2024 Track and Field Schedule
Eisenhower has a Pay-to-Participate sports program for students in grades 7 and 8. Students who try out for and make a sports team will be required to pay an interscholastic sports activity fee. This fee would cover a student's participation in multiple sports, if applicable. Click here for more information.
Additional Information:
For all practices/meets:
appropriate clothing for the weather
water bottle with your name on it
bathroom
Commitment
Track is a two and a half-month commitment and your teammates depend on you every day. If you will be late to practice or need to leave early from practice, you need to email your coach ahead of time. Multiple absences need to be discussed with the coaches and may result in ineligibility for meets or dismissal from the team.
Practices
TBD
Dress Code
Team members are expected to wear running shoes/sneakers, shorts, and a t-shirt for practices. We will run outside in all types of weather. For the first few weeks, depending on the temperature, you may want to wear sweats. You must bring your own water bottle with your name on it to all practices & meets. Once practice starts, there are no bathroom breaks and limited water breaks except for in extreme heat, so come hydrated and prepared.
Important Information
Track and field is open to all seventh and eighth grade boys and girls. Academics comes first. You will need to learn to prioritize your commitments. If you need to miss practice or a meet, please let your coach know ahead of time as soon as possible.
Meets
You must wear matching uniforms at meets. In the event of cold weather, you may wear a white shirt and black tights or Under Armor pants under your uniform. Meet officials have been known to disqualify competitors (especially relay teams) for non-matching uniforms.
Meets start by 4:00 PM and end around 6:00 PM. Allow an extra 30-60 minutes for the bus to return to EMS around 6:30 -7:00PM. Students can call or text their rides home with updated arrival times. Parents/Guardians should notify the coaches in writing prior to the start of the meet if their child is not returning to the school on the bus.
**Please see host school websites for driving directions to meets.
Meets generally start at 4:00 and we generally return to EMS around 6:30.
Students must return to EMS on the team bus unless written permission has been given to a coach. Coaches are often involved in helping run the meets, so please bring notes a day ahead of time if at all possible.
