Coolidge School Update 6/2/25

Our May Schoolwide Meeting took place on Friday. After celebrating this month’s birthdays and singing our “Cougar Pride” song, 4th and 5th grade students performed a sneak peek song from our upcoming school musical, The Wizard of Oz.

Thank you to Mrs. McCurry and Mrs. Reitano for planning a fun and active Field Day for our students. We could not have done it without our parent volunteers and the financial support of our PTO! Sportsmanship and teamwork were on full display as students spent the morning engaged in a variety of games and activities. 5th grade students and parents ended the day with a kickball game, tug-of-war, and our traditional hosedown from the Wyckoff Fire Department.

Our fifth-grade students enjoyed a wonderful day at Spring Lake Day Camp in Ringwood this past week. This trip serves as one of our culminating experiences for our fifth-grade students, who remained engaged all day long in swimming, ziplining, boating, dancing, rock climbing, playing sports, and so much more. Thank you to the Coolidge PTO for funding this trip!

Last week, we welcomed our newest Coolidge Cougars to school during our Kindergarten Previews. It was wonderful to meet our new students and parents as they joined our school community! Kindergarten Orientation is tentatively scheduled for September 2nd at 2:00 PM.

This year’s Kindergarten Celebration will take place on June 11th at 11:00 AM in each Kindergarten classroom. More information will be provided by the Kindergarten teachers to the parents in each class.

As a reminder, Wednesday evening's performance of The Wizard of Oz is for 4th-grade parents, and Thursday evening's performance is for 5th-grade parents. Mr. Cosman has sent an email to the parents of 4th and 5th-grade students with detailed information about the musical this week and will communicate via email with any further updates. Be sure to be on the lookout for that information!

STUDENT COUNCIL- “GUESS THE TEACHER” ACTIVITY

The Coolidge School Student Council's annual Teacher Trivia contest took place last week! This year was a special "Guess Who" edition, where teachers submitted elementary pictures and students had to guess who they were. Fun was had by all! Thank you to our Student Council advisors, Mrs. Turtoro and Mrs. Pennino, for helping the students organize this activity.

WIZARD OF OZ- COMMUNITY MATINEE PERFORMANCE

Dear Coolidge Community,

You’re warmly invited to a special Community Matinee Performance of our school’s production of The Wizard of Oz!

Time: 1:30 PM (Doors open at approx. 1:15 PM)
Reserve your seats: General Admission

Limit: 200 seats – first come, first served

This performance is open to all members of our school community, including families, neighbors, and retired staff — even those without a student in the show. Come enjoy the talent, heart, and hard work our students have poured into this magical production and enjoy a magical afternoon of theater!

Please note: School-aged students should not be signed out of class to attend. This special event is intended for adults and community members not currently enrolled in school during the day.
