kindergarten students

As we begin a new school year, parents are reminded to update their information, including emergency contact information, on our student management system, Genesis. Click here for the Genesis Parent Portal.

I would like to thank our PTO Co-Presidents and the PTO Executive Board for their planning and efforts to make this a great school year for our students. Thank you also to all of you who volunteer your time for various school events and fundraisers. I encourage all parents to take an active role in our school and reach out to the PTO to see how you can help. Our collective focus is on helping our students have an amazing year! I know we are actively looking for volunteers or chairs for several committees and initiatives, including lunch servers, Economy Shop, May Dinner, and Theme Day. Additionally, our school needs additional trustees to serve on the Wyckoff Education Foundation, as we currently only have one. Reach out to WEF if interested.

As a reminder, School Picture Day will take place on Monday, September 22nd. I look forward to seeing all of our smiling faces for the photos!

Please note that PTO Bagel/Jersey Mike’s Lunch will start on Monday, September 15th, and Pizza Lunch will begin on Wednesday, September 17th. We need volunteers to fill slots on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the year. Please reach out to the PTO if you can help.

Last week, I visited grade 3-5 classes to discuss important school rules and to review expectations for the upcoming year. Students were attentive and seemed ready and prepared for the year ahead! Visits to grades K-2 are being planned.

WEF COLOR RUN- SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH

Parents are encouraged to sign up for the upcoming WEF Color Run, which will take place on Saturday, September 27th at 11:00 AM at Eisenhower Middle School. The Wyckoff Education Foundation (WEF) has donated thousands of dollars to our schools through the years. Most recently, WEF has donated money to help upgrade our media center, and is working hard to raise additional funds to complete this initiative. Please come out to the Run to support this cause.

Students watched a promotional video in school last week. Take a look at the video to learn more about the Color Run. Children received a registration packet in school, as well with more information. The September 14 registration deadline is fast approaching for students to be guaranteed their t-shirt and prize pack.

Coolidge School would like to win the prize for the highest participation. See below and Go Cougars!

This year’s contests include:

  • Top School Challenge: Winning school receives a $500 bonus donation to their PE program.

  • NEW Class Challenge (Elementary Schools): The top fundraising class at each of the four elementary schools will enjoy an ice cream treat at the Color Run, a great way to celebrate together.

  • And of course, the crowd-favorite: the student who raises the most money at each school will get to “Blast” their principal!

VISITOR/VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES AT COOLIDGE SCHOOL

We are very appreciative of parent volunteers who serve pizza and bagel lunch at school, assist in the media center, or volunteer in some other capacity. With that being said, safety, security, and the orderly operation of the school must take priority. Please review the following guidelines when volunteering at school, especially for pizza and bagel lunch.

General Volunteer Guidelines:

  • All visitors must sign in at the main office. You will need your driver’s license or fob. The visitor’s badge must be worn clearly on your shirt/jacket.

  • When volunteering in the school, you are not permitted to take photos or videos of students. Do not text photos or send updates to parents as to how their children are doing.

  • Do not use student bathrooms. If you need to use the restroom, you must report back to the main office, and you will be directed from there.

  • Exterior doors cannot be propped open at any time (even for a few seconds).

  • When you have finished volunteering, you should report back to the main office to sign out.

Pizza, Jersey Mike’s, and Bagel Lunch Volunteer Guidelines:

  • Your job is to make sure the students have the food they ordered. Do not sit down and join the children at the lunch tables. It is their time to socialize with their classmates.

  • You are not responsible for supervision or for “watching students” at lunch.

  • Although your parenting instincts might compel you to intervene, get involved with students, impose discipline, or try to help, the staff are responsible for the care of the students.

  • When finished with your shift, you should leave the MPR and sign out at the main office.

  • Parents are not permitted to walk around the school, visit the door of their child’s class, or stay in the MPR after their assigned shift.

I-READY DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENTS

This past week, students in grades 1-5 began the i-Ready Diagnostic assessment in reading and mathematics. This assessment serves as an important online tool that helps us pinpoint your child's specific strengths and areas where they might need more support. The diagnostic is adaptive, meaning it adjusts questions in real time based on your child's answers to get a precise understanding of their skill level. The results will give us a personalized roadmap for instruction, guiding teachers to provide targeted lessons and support throughout the year. We look forward to using this valuable data to help every student grow and succeed! Students in Kindergarten will complete this assessment next month.

MILK ORDERS FOR YOUR CHILDREN

Our district will again use an online milk payment method.  Payment must be made using PaySchools Central.  If you are not already registered for PaySchools Central, you may do so by logging on to www.payschoolscentral.com and selecting “Register” and following the prompts.

Please note that you will need your child’s 6-digit Student ID#, which is located on the Parent Portal in Genesis next to your child’s picture.  If you have difficulty logging on to the Genesis Parent Portal, please contact the Genesis Helpdesk at genesis@wyckoffps.org.  We will also accept checks for payment that can be sent in through the school to the front office and made out to Wyckoff Board of Education.

Milk is offered to grades K-5 daily.  You can purchase milk for the entire year. Milk options are 1%, skim, and chocolate.  Please indicate your choice. Milk will begin Monday, September 16th.  The total cost is: $110.00.

If you have any questions, please contact Randi Venema at 201-848-5710 X1202.
