As a reminder, there is no school for students on Monday, 11/10, due to Parent/Teacher Conferences.
4th and 5th-grade students completed the NJSLA Fall Field Test for Writing on November 5th. While these are field tests and not for individual student scores, we stressed the importance of focused effort. Please reinforce the message at home that giving their absolute best on any assessment is a crucial life skill that will benefit them as they grow as learners. Students will complete the final field test on Wednesday, November 12th.
Message from Mr. Cosman regarding this week’s school musical rehearsals: Check out the updated November Calendar for this week's upcoming musical rehearsal schedule. For now, students should enter via the main entrance doors. Contact Mr. Cosman if you have any questions, or refer to his email.
I am resending the link for the special area newsletter that was sent out last week. Some parents had difficulty opening the links within the newsletter.
Items in the Lost and Found will be on a table in the front hallway during conferences. If your child is missing something, you might want to check it out. All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity after the conferences.
Coolidge School recognizes Veterans Day this upcoming week. Please join me in saying thank you to our veterans for their sacrifice, bravery, and courage in defending the rights and freedoms we have in our country. A special thank you goes out to our own Officer Rob, who served four years in the United States Marine Corps.

INFORMATION AHEAD OF PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Here are some reminders and guidelines on how you can make the most out of your upcoming conference:
● Parents should enter via the main entrance and sign in at the office. You will need your driver’s license. Contact your child’s teacher if you have to reschedule. Arriving late to a conference will only allow for a shorter conference, since our teachers are on a very tight schedule and don’t want to cut into anyone else’s conference time.
● Before the conference, think about any questions you might have and consider emailing the teacher ahead of time so he/she can be prepared to discuss your questions.
● Fall conferences are a time to discuss progress and map out goals for what’s ahead. It’s only November, so your child should be approaching grade-level standards and may not have mastered them at this time. Be realistic about their goals, celebrate what your children are doing well, and share a growth mindset for what’s ahead.
● If you have questions that you know will go beyond your allotted time, respectfully request that you have a follow-up phone call.
Keep the lines of communication open with your child(ren)'s teachers and the school throughout the year. It is when we communicate, collaborate, and work together that we see tremendous student growth and progress.
Most importantly, don’t forget to celebrate with your child after the conference. Have a conversation with your child to let them know how proud you are of them and share goals and anything you hope to do to continue supporting their growth as a partner with the school. We look forward to seeing you all at the November conferences!

2ND ANNUAL TURKEY TROT
Our Coolidge School community will host our 2nd Annual Turkey Trot on Monday, November 17th (rain date Nov.18th) during the school day. On this day, each grade level will go outside to walk, jog, or run laps around the backfield during a thirty-minute period. This event will help raise awareness in our students about food insecurity and rally support for local families. We hope to instill gratitude for our blessings and give thanks by making a turkey donation to support others in need. With that in mind, please consider donating a frozen turkey on behalf of the event. The frozen turkey drop-off will be on Friday, November 21st, on the front lawn of the school from 8:00-10:00 am. All donations will be given to the Center for Food Action to create holiday dinner baskets for families in need.

HEALTHY EATING FOR OUR STUDENTS
As a parent, I can appreciate the challenges involved in promoting healthy eating habits and actually getting your children to “eat healthy”. However, I wanted to provide some resources about the importance of packing a healthy and balanced lunch (and snack) for your child each day.
Did you know that the lunch you pack is a direct ingredient in your child's success? A healthy and balanced midday meal is essential for both academic and physical performance.
Academics: Nutritious lunches (think whole grains, lean protein, and produce) stabilize blood sugar, leading to improved focus, memory, and sustained energy for afternoon lessons.
Physical Health: Proper fuel supports strong immune function and provides the stamina your child needs for growth and active play.
I have included a few resources below if you are interested…
