Dear Sicomac Families,
Thank you for making this year’s Back to School Night such a memorable one. Classrooms were filled and the energy felt great as you connected with teachers, met fellow parents, and caught a glimpse of the magic happening at Sicomac every single day. I am so proud of our amazing teaching staff and grateful for the strong partnership we share with you.
This week, we also wrapped up a very successful Book Fair! Students and families were able to replenish their personal libraries, and the joy around books was contagious. A huge "thank you" goes to our parent volunteers who handled deliveries, restocking, and transactions with such care and enthusiasm. Our community shines brighter because of you!
Reminders for Families
During my remarks on Monday evening, I shared just how much our PTO contributes to the heart of our school. Please take a few minutes to enjoy this short video montage, highlighting the incredible month we’ve had and the exciting events still to come this year.
Next week, beginning October 6th, we will celebrate New Jersey’s Week of Respect. At Sicomac, we will lean all the way in, because we know how important it is to respect ourselves, one another, and our school. The week will feature:
Schoolwide assemblies
Refreshed bulletin boards and hallway decorations
Sidewalk chalk celebrations
Spirit days that promote unity and positivity
Class discussions facilitated by our counselor Ms. Boele and me
While "doing the right thing" is a mantra we will embrace all year, the Week of Respect gives us a timely opportunity to come together as a community around this shared value.
Spotlight on Teaching & Learning
This week marked the start of Chorus! Early-morning rehearsals have already begun, and our hallways are filled with beautiful music before the school day even starts. It may be early in the year, but it’s clear we have some serious talent in the group!
As always, thank you for your support and partnership. Sicomac is such a special place because of the energy, care, and commitment of our families, staff, and students. I look forward to another wonderful week ahead together.
Sincerely,
Keith Dunbar, Principal
