Dear Sicomac Families,
What an incredible week we had at Sicomac! It was jam-packed with celebration, learning, special events, fun clothing, and most importantly— Respect!
Week of Respect was a huge success. We kicked off with an engaging musical performance for all students, and Ms. Boele and I visited each of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes to reinforce our high expectations for how we treat one another at Sicomac. To cap off the week, our entire school community filled the parking lot with colorful chalk messages of kindness and positivity. Most importantly, I saw students making great choices, showing empathy, and helping one another. We are so proud of our Sicomac Eagles for living out our values every day.
And that was just Week of Respect! This was also Fire Prevention Week, and our youngest learners (Pre-K through 1st grade) enjoyed a special visit and demonstration from Wyckoff Fire Department. Thank you to our local heroes for keeping us safe and informed!
We also had an incredible turnout for Bike/Walk to School Day! A huge thank you to our parent volunteers and to all the families who participated. Seeing so many students walking or biking to school was inspiring. It promoted healthy habits, reduced traffic, and set the tone for a truly amazing day at Sicomac.
Safety First
Safety is always our top priority at Sicomac. This week, we conducted our first Bus Safety Drills of the year, and students practiced important safety procedures, including bus evacuation drills and safe riding habits.
A few reminders to help us keep everyone safe:
All visitors must buzz in through the front doorbell before entering the building. Even during busy moments, please do not hold the door for others. Thank you for helping us maintain a secure environment.
At dismissal, please back into parking spots. Pulling out in the forward direction greatly improves visibility and reduces risk for our students and families heading home. Your cooperation truly makes a difference!
Eagle Eye on Learning
Our young artists in 2C (pictured in this week's cover photo) are exploring the colorful world of French painter Paul Cezanne, known for his still life paintings of fruit and everyday objects. Inspired by his use of shape and color, students created vibrant watercolor pieces featuring apples arranged in bowls against patterned backgrounds. They focused on the elements of line, color, and space to bring their still life scenes to life. The classroom buzzed with creativity as students experimented with Cezzanne's signature techniques.
