Dear Sicomac Families,
This week was full of joy and connection here at Sicomac. While our teachers were engaged in rich professional development on Monday, I loved seeing so many of our students sledding on our Sicomac Hill and enjoying the snow. We are wrapping up this week with a fun-filled Kids' Night for our 1st and 4th graders. Our One Book, One School trivia questions continue to spark excitement each morning, and with more snow expected this weekend, I hope you all stay safe and warm and enjoy some winter fun together.
5th Grade Poetry Cafe
On Thursday, Fifth grade families were treated to our Sicomac Poetry Cafe, where all of our 5th graders participated in a poetry slam. While enjoying hot chocolate and great vibes, our Sicomac poets confidently shared their original pieces with a room full of proud loved ones. Bravo to our 5th grade team for teaching the art of poetry and, even more importantly, for building the confidence our students need to read and share their work with pride.
Math Resources
As parents, supporting our children in math can sometimes feel challenging, especially as strategies evolve. If you're looking for a peek into the math instruction happening here at Sicomac, please check out this brief video that highlights how to access the approaches students are using and the resources available to you at home. NJSLA Testing Dates (Grades 3-5)
Please mark your calendars for the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) for students in grades 3-5. We kindly ask families to avoid scheduling appointments or time away from school during these testing windows whenever possible. All assessments will begin after morning meeting at approximately 9:15am and conclude around 11:15am
ELA: May 6 & 7
Math: May 12-14
Science (Grade 5 only): May 19
Family Connection Series Presentation
The next Family Connection Series presentation will take place on Tuesday 2/3/26 at 7:00pm at EMS. The session, titled Raising Resilience, will explore what resilience is, the factors that contribute to it, and how parents can support and strengthen resilience in their children.
